RON JOHNSON is the current GM of Energy (Basketball, Skate, Collaborations) for Converse. He is focused on sharpening the strategy which includes building a holistic plans across Brand, Product and Converse Direct. Ron comes to Converse from Under Armour, where he spent almost 10 years working in a variety of roles within basketball and footwear. In his most recent role as GM of Basketball at Under Armour, Ron managed key functions of the global basketball organization including footwear, apparel, merchandising, financial planning and brand marketing. He successfully repositioned the category back to growth in both North America and China, developing a strategic go-to-market plans for key innovations, aligning across departments and regions. He was also responsible for Under Armour’s global basketball sports marketing strategy inclusive of partnerships with NBA players, teams, leagues, and grassroots events. Prior to Under Armour Ron worked for Target as an Executive Team Leader before graduating from Wake Forest Business School.
