Litigation Group of the NBCUniversal Law Department

One-Year Litigation Clerkship -- 2024-25, Los Angeles - Application process will close on 09/06

The Litigation Group of the NBCUniversal Law Department seeks a recent law graduate (0-3-year lawyer) for a full-time, one-year position in Los Angeles starting in September or October 2024.  The Litigation Group represents and advises all of NBCUniversal’s businesses, including television (broadcast, cable, and streaming, as well as production), film, theme parks, and digital properties.  Our case load includes First Amendment and other media issues, intellectual property, employment, general commercial, and some pro bono matters.  We operate much like a small, busy law firm that works on some of the most interesting legal issues in media and entertainment, sometimes in collaboration with outside counsel (national and local).  Our clerk can expect brief-writing, legal research, fact-gathering, client counseling, and helping to prepare for court hearings, arbitrations, and depositions.  As the year goes on, our clerk may take broader responsibility in smaller matters, under the supervision of the experienced litigators in the group.  We seek a candidate with strong writing skills, an excellent academic record, significant legal research experience, and demonstrated interest in litigation and the media industry.  Journal or moot court experience is a plus.

The position is based in Universal City, Los Angeles.  This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.  Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Compensation is $30-40/hour for 40 hours per week.  Please note this is a temporary position in which you would be employed by Allsource Staffing, and assigned to NBCUniversal for the duration of your employment.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for the entire term of the clerkship.  Please submit resume and cover letter by September 6, 2024, by email only to Marysa.Lin@nbcuni.com.  Resumes will be considered on a rolling basis, and we expect to begin interviewing candidates in person or by videoconference in August and September.  No phone calls or hard-copy applications, please.
