CHARLES W. HAMILTON

CHARLES W. HAMILTON is Head of Business & Legal Affairs for Saban Music  Group (SMG), a private equity funded music company that operates a fully integrated  360-model record label, music publisher and brand development company that recently  signed a multiyear strategic partnership with reggaeton superstar Don Omar. At SMG,  Hamilton oversees all business transactions, contracts, and other legal matters related  to catalog acquisitions, artist signings, A&R, and operations. Before SMG, he was Senior  Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs at Warner Records, where he handled artist  signings and renegotiations, label joint ventures, catalog acquisitions, and audits for the  label’s premier active and “legacy” artists. Additionally, Hamilton has worked as a talent  manager (most recently for GRAMMY® Award and Dove Award winning singer/songwriter  Rudy Currence) and as a strategy consultant for music startups, in both instances drawing  on “deal psychology”, practical business insight and his legal expertise to help new entrants to the music industry navigate  its emerging markets. Hamilton began his legal career at Universal Music Group, where he was responsible for contract  negotiations for the company’s Nashville division. Before the music industry, he held marketing roles at Bank of America  Investment Services and the Eastern Caribbean division of Chase Bank. In his free time, Hamilton loves discovering new  music, and working on criminal justice rehabilitation and criminal records clearance issues as a founder/board member of  Project REDEEMED. Hamilton has a B.A. in Literature from Yale College and a J.D. from Tulane Law School.
