Edward Fultz, Esq.
Associate, Reed Smith

Edward Fultz is an entertainment and media attorney whose practice encompasses the full spectrum of advertising, promotions, and brand protection. Originally from the country of Panama and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Fultz earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College and his Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law. Currently, he is a Senior Associate at Reed Smith LLP in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.


Mr. Fultz’s practice is at the intersection of advertising, privacy, and intellectual property law. He counsels clients on the monetization of talent and brands across a diverse array of industries, including sports, music, film and television, video games, and influencer marketing. In this capacity, Mr. Fultz drafts, reviews, and negotiates a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, sponsorship arrangements, brand activation agreements, endorsement deals, talent agreements, influencer engagement guidelines, and name, image, and likeness agreements. His regulatory practice includes the assessment of promotional activities, such as sweepstakes, contests, and other prize promotions. Mr. Fultz also provides counsel on network clearance matters for commercial broadcasts. He has experience in disputes involving false advertising, domain names, defamation, right of publicity, and unfair competition. In addition, Mr. Fultz assists clients in navigating privacy and data governance matters, including the development and review of privacy policies, information security protocols, data privacy addenda, master service agreements, and consumer protection compliance.


In the area of intellectual property, Mr. Fultz prepares and prosecutes trademark and copyright applications before the USPTO and the Copyright Office, maintains registrations, and conducts clearance analyses to assess risk. He further supports clients through the drafting of cease and desist correspondence and the prosecution and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Additionally, Mr. Fultz drafts and negotiates a variety of music industry contracts, including producing agreements and royalty arrangements.


Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Fultz is the Founder and President of Fathers Are In The Home (“FAITH”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit chess organization. Through FAITH, Mr. Fultz mentors and instructs K–12 students and young adults in the game of chess, employing the discipline and strategic rigor of the game as a framework for broader life skills development.
