Lisa Bonner

Lisa Bonner is a veteran entertainment and intellectual property attorney who advises major media companies, film and television distributors, screenwriters, producers, music artists, songwriters, and publishers, as well as tech start-ups, small businesses, and student-athletes in the NIL space.
A successful entrepreneur as managing attorney of Bonner Law PC for over 20 years, Lisa represents clients in all aspects of media and entertainment transactional matters. In the music industry, Lisa advises clients in the negotiation of recording artist, producer, and music publishing agreements at major and independent record labels, and also negotiates agreements for music licensing, live music tours, and sponsorships. Lisa providesrecord, publishing and royalty recovery administration and litigation management for clients of Bonner Law. Lisa also serves as film and television production counsel for scripted TV programs, film and TV documentaries, live shows, talk shows, game shows and live-to-tape programming for clients in the film, cable, network television, AVOD/SVOD and FAST TV industries, and streaming platforms, and negotiates development deals, distribution agreements, financing agreements. Lisa also provides counsel for scripted and unscripted television personalities, television writers, producers showrunners and above-the-line talent. In the terrestrial and digital arenas, Lisa negotiates host and syndication agreements for radio personalities and advises clients in the traditional print and digital media industries as well as digital portals. Lisa also provides counsel for start-ups, including investor agreements and complex compliance agreements.
Lisa also represents student-athletes in the evolving Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) space, including negotiating NIL agreements with colleges and universities, drafting and negotiating endorsement, sponsorship deals, advising on NCAA compliance, and counseling athletes on brand development and long-term contract strategy.
Lisa has served as outside General Counsel for some of the largest and most recognizable name in content handling editorial, print, digital, television, book publishing, music financing, production and distribution needs for companies including Vibe Magazine, Codeblack Pictures, (LionsGate and Universal Pictures), and serves as outside production legal counsel for various media companies including NBCUniversal, Bravo, Warner Media, Nickelodeon, BET, Jesse Collins Entertainment, Endeavor, Film Forties. Lisa serves the sole music lawyer/outside counsel for Fifth Season’s ([formerly Endeavor Content] “Severance”, “Nonnas”, “Nine Perfect Strangers”, “Chief of War”)] Film, TV, and Live Production divisions.
Lisa speaks extensively on current legal and entrepreneurial topics, is a legal correspondent for various news outlets, including CNN, Sky News, BBC, ABC and PIX11 (NYC). Lisa has lectured extensively on entertainment and intellectual property matters for various associations and law schools including Harvard Law School, ASCAP, and The Grammy Foundation.
Lisa is a critically acclaimed television producer on several documentary films including Little Ballers, which debuted on Nickelodeon (featuring now “Big Baller” Orlando Magic’s Cole Anthony) and was nominated for a 2016 NAACP Image Award; Little Ballers Indiana featuring WNBA’s Skylar Diggs (Nickelodeon), and Foreman, the authorized biography of George Foreman (EPIX).
