Since 2021, Michelle Johnson has served as the Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at BET Media Group. She currently works on a wide variety of matters such as unscripted development and production (Celebrity Squares, College Hill and Ms. Pat Settles It), live events and award shows (BET Experience and BET Awards), acquisitions, digital and marketing content. Prior to joining BET, over the last thirteen years in the entertainment industry, Michelle has provided business affairs and legal support at WME, Vox Media, Sony Pictures Entertainment and ABC, resulting in a career that has to date handled more than 100 projects for some of the top networks and platforms with work that spans across Michelle Obama, Jerry Seinfeld, Andy Cohen, Men In Blazers, Barstool Sports and The View. 

She prides herself on being a trusted business collaborator endeavoring to come up with creative solutions that balances both empowering her creative and business executives and adeptly navigating business risks. 

Prior to embarking on a career as an attorney in the entertainment industry, Michelle served as an Assistant District Attorney from 2005-2010, where she was entrusted to handle high-profile press cases and assist in training New York City Police Officers. 

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University in 2002 and Juris Doctorate degree from Saint John’s University in 2005. 

She is a native New Yorker via the Bronx, and when she is not juggling the demands of work, she often times finds herself succumbing to the antics of her 4-year-old, 79 lbs Giant Schnauzer, Onyx.
