Tanya Perara, Esq.
Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer, Music, NBCUniversal

Tanya Perara is an experienced legal and business executive who has focused her career on music and intellectual property transactions.


Her legal career began with the international law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP representing a variety of individual and corporate clients in litigation and transactional matters. She later transitioned to Interscope Geffen A&M Records, a division of Universal Music Group, initially as in-house counsel, and over a term of 13 years, rising to the level Senior Vice President, Emerging Business and Revenue division, collaborating with Interscope Geffen A&M artists to develop business ventures generating diverse revenue streams.


In 2012 she joined NBCUniversal, and currently leads Music Business Operations across Universal Pictures, Telemundo Media, Universal Studios Group’s international and domestic productions, NBC Entertainment’s network, cable and streaming platforms, and for Universal Destination’s & Experiences global theme parks. Her team oversees a catalog more than a century of music recorded for NBCU’s historic film and television productions, manages all aspects of music rights, talent and partnerships for global productions, platform exhibition, soundtrack, marketing initiatives, consumer products, gaming, theme park rides and attractions and live events.


Ms. Perara is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School. She is the President of the Board of Trustees for the Center for Early Education, serves on the board of directors for USA for Africa.
