Greg Olaniran, Esq.
Partner, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, LLP

Greg Olaniran is a member of the Litigation and IP & Technology practice groups at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp (MSK). He focuses on copyright and entertainment litigation, which includes a specialty in statutory license matters, and commercial litigation. Greg represents collectively more than 200 producers and distributors of TV content in their contention for shares of hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties paid by cable and satellite systems to the U.S. Copyright Office. Greg has litigated or settled numerous statutory license disputes, and has participated in legislative efforts to reform pertinent sections of the Copyright Act. Greg’s multi disciplinary experience allows him to offer comprehensive solutions to challenges faced by leading media and entertainment clients as well as clients in retail, real estate, government contracts, and healthcare industries. His background in accounting and business has proven to be a valuable resource in analyses of complex facts, application of econometric principles, settlement construction, and structuring of creative arguments that are the foundation of the matters he handles.


He has represented clients before state and federal trial and appellate courts, and various administrative agencies, including the U.S. Copyright Office, the Copyright Royalty Board, the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel and the Federal Communications Commission.


Greg is a multi-term member of MSK’s Governing Board. Because of his unwavering commitment to diversity in the legal profession, he is also Co-Chair of MSK’s DEI Committee. Greg is especially proud of being instrumental in his firm’s efforts to cultivate a more inclusive workplace and to establish a framework for fighting anti-Black and other forms of prejudice.


Greg is past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Horizon Foundation, the largest independent philanthropic healthcare foundation in the state of Maryland. As Board Chair, he led the foundation’s advocacy to prioritize mental health for its community and led the foundation’s community leadership efforts during the COVID crisis, including the foundation’s distribution of nearly $2.5M to more than 70 different community programs. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center located in Columbia, Maryland. Greg is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and a former board member of the Alpha Foundation of Howard County, Maryland.


Greg received two undergraduate degrees, cum laude, in Accounting and Business Administration from Morgan State University, where he also earned an MBA in Finance. He subsequently earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate. After a few years as an accountant, he left to pursue the study of law full-time and graduated from The George Washington University Law School.
