Donald Woodard is a transactional entertainment lawyer representing talent and companies in the music, television/film, new media, technology and sports industries. Donald’s impressive legal career was spent primarily practicing law with AMLAW 100 law firms. He counsels recording artists, songwriters, record producers, influencers, actors, record labels, music publishers, executives and organizations. He specializes in negotiating and structuring complex commercial transactions for businesses, serving as outside general counsel to private companies, and advising individuals in all facets of their careers in the entertainment industry. Donald has experience in areas of emerging media, digital rights and strategy, copyright, intellectual property rights, rights of privacy and rights of publicity, corporate governance and sponsorships and endorsements.
Donald served as the Deputy General Counsel and Chief Business Affairs Officer of USA Track & Field, Inc. and was a partner in the Entertainment and Sports division of an international law firm.
Donald is recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer and has been listed in Who’s Who in Black Atlanta, Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “40 Under 40 Rising Stars” and the 100 Most Influential People in Entertainment by Rolling Out. Donald was the first African American federal judicial clerk on the Northern District of Georgia’s Bankruptcy Court.
Donald is a frequent speaker on the lecture circuit. He serves on the board of directors for the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association and is the Southern Regional Captain for the Sports Lawyers Association. Donald is a former member of the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the Grammy’s) and is the former Chairman of the Black Women Film Network, the first man to ever serve in such a capacity.
