BWEL's Second Annual Writing Competition Scholarship
BWEL will award its second annual writing competition scholarship. Interested students are required to submit an application, an official (mailed) and an unofficial (e-mailed) transcript, a scholastic/personal resume, and a legal memorandum or article between 1250 and 1500 words that addresses the following:
“Record labels are using 360 models to participate in multiple areas of an artist’s career."
Discuss legal issues that may arise, including whether such models create new duties for the record company, whether conflicts of interest may arise and possible defenses that may be asserted. Additionally, discuss how you, as an attorney for the artist, would advise your client when presented with a 360 record deal.
The scholarship recipient will receive a $2,500 scholarship and her name will be announced at the 2008 BESLA Annual Conference in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (winner need not be present to win).
Please use the link http://www.bwelfoundation.org/scholarships.html to download the application form and follow the directions on the application to formally submit your materials.
Deadline, September 30, 2008.
