BESLA Board Nominations Notice


Applications for Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association  Board of Director membership are being accepted for consideration by the BESLA Nominations Committee.*

Interested parties must submit a resume and letter stating that individual’s prior service to the organization as well as anticipated future contributions that advance BESLA’s goals. Applications must be e-mailed to the following Nominations Committee members no later than October 7, 2011:

Ronda Robinson Kirk, Chairperson   
       
Tamela R. Cash-Curry
Walter Dale
Matthew Middleton                                 

The Committee will make its recommendation(s) to the BESLA Board of Directors during its Annual Board of Directors meeting in October.

* Nominations shall be subject to board seat availability during the 2011-2012 term.


BESLA Board Membership Criteria/Obligations

Under the organization’s bylaws, board members are elected to serve in the position until the third Annual Meeting following their election (three (3) years) or until their respective successors have been duly elected.
The minimum criteria for New Board membership is as follows:

  • Demonstrated service to and on behalf of the organization.
  • Attorney member admitted to a State Bar and in good standing at the time of election.

Once on the board, new members are expected to solicit and obtain a minimum of $5,000 in sponsorships to be used toward the organization’s operating expenses and/or ancillary obligations.  Continuing board members must obtain a minimum of $5,000 in sponsorship or make a personal, in cash contribution of $1,000 each year of board member service.
